Lauren Doyle Perez is a cum laude graduate of the University of Miami School of Law.
During her 10 years with the firm, Lauren has worked on a wide array of criminal defense matters. She has represented CEO’s, doctors, lawyers and other professionals in federal white collar crime cases. Recently, she was on the team that was able to obtain a pre-trial dismissal in a landmark federal case against a doctor after many years of litigation. (United States v. B.G.G.).
Alongside David Markus, Lauren has also represented world leaders such as Andres Felipe Arias, former Colombian Minister of Agriculture and Presidential candidate, and Ricardo Martinelli, former President of Panama. She is frequently part of the firm’s team that takes on the cases of professional athletes, such as Yasiel Puig and Willie Reed.
In addition to her work in federal court, Lauren has also represented clients in high-profile state DUI manslaughter and sexual assault cases. In one recent victory, she represented a University of Miami student accused of sexual assault. The student was cleared entirely, including at the University.
Lauren is respected by her colleagues and she was elected in 2016 to serve on the board of directors for the Young Lawyers Section of the Dade County Bar Association. She was also chosen to be on the Young Lawyers Committee of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Miami Chapter.
While in law school, Lauren received the Dean’s Certificate of Achievement for Judicial Writing, Legal Communications and Research, and the Death Penalty Clinic. Lauren also received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award, for Legal Communications and Research.
Lauren was chosen to participate in the Death Penalty Clinic at the Miami-Dade Public Defender’s Office, where she worked with the Capital Litigation Unit. During her time working in the Death Penalty Clinic, Lauren co-authored Where Law and Psychology Intersect, an undergraduate legal psychology textbook that discusses current death penalty issues.
During law school, Lauren worked as a Certified Legal Intern at the Miami Dade Public Defender’s Office. She received a HOPE Pro Bono award for her pro bono work at the Miami Dade Public Defender’s Office.
Prior to attending law school, Lauren graduated cum laude from the George Washington University, where she worked as a congressional intern for Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen.
